By the time your final undergraduate year in college comes around, you may be hit with a sudden feeling of “I haven’t done enough yet.” I had spent the last four years saying that I wanted to visit x, y, and z, and yet, I stayed in Santa Barbara for most of my time here. So at the start of my fourth and final year, I was determined to travel — to go somewhere.

What started as an idea I tossed up to my coworkers — “What if we went to New York?” — became a girls’ trip to the city at the beginning of May. We have less than a month until graduation, but what’s a little weekend trip to the other side of the country?

As a first-time visitor to New York, I didn’t know what to expect. We had an itinerary of Broadway shows and museum visits, walks around the city, and must-try foods, but as I settle back home into school and Santa Barbara, I can’t help but want to go back again to see everything I missed.

Waiting for the Long Island Rail Road at Jamaica Station to go to Grand Central Terminal.
Walking along Broadway and Times Square.
Times Square, midday.
Bon Bon candy shop down the street from The Met.
Central Park Lake.

New York is a feeling.
