Shofet is replacing ex-Senator Joshua Takeuchi, who resigned due to personal reasons.

AS Senate is discussing a resolution to create a living minimum wage for AS UCSB employees. Authored by Off-Campus Senators Dallin Mello and Christian Ornelas, the resolution cites that the cost of living in Isla Vista is 53.3 percent higher than the national average.

The voter threshold is currently set at 8 percent.
