The MultiCultural Center began a new series called Race and Literature to “explore the issues of race and belonging through literature.” Facilitator, Amoni Thompson-Jones is a PhD student in the Feminist Studies program at UCSB. Amoni, in particular, focuses on “the ways Black girls of the 21st century American South employ strategies to create geographies of pleasure and joy. She is interested in how spatial politics impact how Black girls use expressive culture as a tool to enact their own visions of freedom.”
