University of California, Santa Barbara students will convene in solidarity on Tuesday at the MultiCultural Center after a mass shooting at a Baptist church in south Texas left 26 people dead.
The gunman opened fire on Sunday afternoon inside First Baptist church, killing 26 and wounding 20 others, before taking his own life while trying to evade two men who chased him in a truck after the attack.
The MCC event, hosted by third year history of public policy major Spencer Brandt and fourth year communication major Andrea Reyes, will run from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
“If you are willing and able to, speak your thoughts and be alongside of our community as we mourn over this tragedy, and all past tragedies in result of gun violence,” reads the event description on Facebook.
A psychologist from Campus and Psychological Services will attend, the description reads.
