Incoming Associated Students External Vice President for Statewide Affairs Mayela Morales, had her candidacy retroactively disqualified and her position revoked because of a violation of UCSB’s A.S. Elections Code.

The disqualification was first announced over email to the association at 5:25 p.m. Wednesday, contained within A.S. Election Board minutes and adjustments to the 2018 election results. Senate will vote to ratify the final elections results tonight.

Morales will have two weeks to appeal the decision before the Judicial Council. If her appeal is denied, a special election will be scheduled for the EVPSA position.

The Bottom Line has reached out to Morales for comment.
