My friends and I took a day trip to the Danish-American village Solvang, about 45 minutes away from Isla Vista (I.V.). Throughout our time there, we cruised the main avenue (Copenhagen Drive), complete with shops and a car show, and visited the Elverhøj Museum of History & Art.  Aside from shopping and museums, Solvang has many vineyards and gardens. On our way back to I.V., we treated ourselves to a glass of Solvang-produced wine in Los Olivos, just 10 minutes away.

While we were there, a car show was taking place along Copenhagen Drive.
The Elverhøj Museum of History & Art consists mostly of a preserved house, with historically accurate decor.
Within the “kitchen,” this rack of beautifully painted plates drew my attention.
The Elverhøj Museum of History & Art used a beautiful embroidered piece to show the Danish alphabet.
After visiting the museum, we wandered around Mission Santa Ines, where we found a viewpoint to look out over one of the many vineyards around Solvang.
