On May 8, members of AS Program Board (ASPB) announced the theme and lineup for the 2025 Extravaganza, an annual campus music festival at UC Santa Barbara (UCSB). ASPB board members wore Girl Scout attire, red berets and sashes, and there was a performance from Pep Band to match the theme, “Camp X.”

At 11:57 a.m., the members dressed as Girl Scouts began blowing whistles and chanting. The UCSB Pep Band emerged from the side of Girvetz Hall, adjacent to the Arbor, playing marching band music.

A crowd gathered as the band and board members marched down the walkway in front of the library.

Dozens of students joined the crowd, which stopped on the steps of Storke Tower. A tent and faux wooden sign were set up on the lawn. Once the post was set up, a drum roll ensued and signs were placed which listed the names of each musician which would be featured at the 2025 Extravaganza, UCSB’s annual music festival held at Harder Stadium.

The first musician revealed was Chris Lake, an English DJ and “house music producer” whose upcoming album, “[Chemistry],” will be released on July 11. Past collaborators include Skrillex, Cloonee, and, most recently, Abel Balder and Amber Mark.

The second sign on the signpost listed Ravyn Lenae, an American R&B singer with “styles ranging from house to synth-funk.” Lenae’s 2024 single “Love Me Not” from her “Bird’s Eye” album appears as her most popular song on Spotify with 143 million listens, followed by “Genius” and “Is It Real.”

The third sign read Snow Strippers, an American music duo in the electronic, dance, and EDM genres. Snow Strippers’ most recent songs include “So What If I’m A Freak” and “Just Your Doll.”

The final announced artist was Zacari, who worked on Kendrick Lamar’s 2017 album “DAMN.”, which won the Pulitzer Prize. In 2024 Zacari released his first studio album, Bliss, which features Ty Dolla $ign and Doechii amongst others. From Bakersfield, CA, Zacari released the electronic/dance single “MOMENTUM” in 2025.

Alliza Menaya, ASPB Publicity Coordinator, spoke with The Bottom Line (TBL) about revealing the lineup of Extravaganza with her committee: “I was inspired by wanting to make it a performance art and, like, get everyone’s attention from the Arbor,” making the announcement “a big deal” to match the significance of Extravaganza.

ASPB hosts “theme and release” announcements every year, such as the “Let Them Eat Cake,” theme last year, which consisted of board members getting smashed in the face with cake as the lineup was announced.

“We weren’t expecting so many people, and it was really fun,” Menaya said of organizing the theme and release. Burgers and Red Bull were handed out to attendees.
