Chancellor Henry Yang, CA State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson, and other community and state members joined a variety of UCSB students to remember the 11 victims of the Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life synagogue shooting. Those attending held a moment of silence as Rabbi Evan Goodman, Executive Director of Santa Barbara Hillel, sung a prayer and spoke to the crowd about how it is important that all groups stand together in a time of adversity.

Assemblymember Monique Limón said that there must be “unity among us to fight the hate.” As many students stand in solidarity for the victims and the Jewish community, Rabbi Evans invites all who may be interested to come to Friday service at Santa Barbara Hillel in an effort to form a cross-cultural understanding and fight all hate.
