The Isla Vista Foot Patrol is packing up its bags and leaving Pardall Road for good, patiently awaiting completion of their new office located behind I.V. Theater. Completion of construction, which is expected June of 2008, will ideally coincide with the end of current office’s lease.

When asked about the slightly inconspicuous new location, Lieutenant Sol Linver responded that the University chose the area. “It was definitely not our first choice,” Linver stated, “but property in I.V. is a rare commodity.”

Doubled in size since 1971 from twelve to currently twenty-four members on staff, “we [IVFP] have simply outgrown this office,” said Linver. The new office, which comes complete with interview rooms, a holding cell, and more staff space, will be more accommodating to both the Foot Patrol and Isla Vista citizens. “With these new interview rooms, we can offer our victims and witnesses much more privacy,” reported Linver.

The relocation of the IVFP’s office is intended to be a one-time move. Just like any other community, as the population grows, so does the safety enforcement; Linver pointed out, “The new office is designed to manage our gradual expansion in the coming years.”

As an endnote, Linver stressed that even though the future office will not be as centrally located as the current one, it should still be seen as a storefront business. He and the Foot Patrol encourage residents and community members of I.V. to come in to talk, report, or voice out any concerns they might have.

There will be an open house once the office’s construction is complete.
